Women in Design is a community of women involved in architecture and the design professions who have come together for mentorship, support and advocacy for women in design. We provide opportunities for working with the community to educate, enhance, explore and celebrate the historic and present contributions of women in our professions through community outreach, mentorship, programs and research.
As Women in Design celebrates over a decade of successful programming, mentorship, and advocacy for women in design; we are very excited to take leadership of this dedicated group of professionals. As a team, we are eager to guide WiD through quality programming, continuing to elevate the work we do as design professionals in our local community, as well as gaining broader outreach to the national conversation on diversity and equality in architecture.
Ellen recently returned to the Kansas City area after spending several years in Washington D.C. She was actively involved with the Women in Architecture group of AIA Northern Virginia and previously served on the WiD-KC board as the communications chair. As a KC native, she is very excited to reconnect with this thriving design community and provide leadership for the continuing evolution of WiD.
Molly is fairly new to the Kansas City scene. She comes to us from Oklahoma via a seven year stint in Seattle. After attending the 2015 AIA Women’s Leadership Summit, Molly co-founded a group at her office focusing on women’s issues in the profession and became active in the WiD community. She is passionate about the issues related to equality and diversity in the profession and is looking forward to diving deep into these issues with the design community in Kansas City.
